Honestly it does not really matter whether Chuck had a point or not. Chuck was too prideful and cowardly to reject Jimmy to his face, so he forced someone subordinate to him to play the bad guy for him, and did so for years.
This was the point when I stopped liking Chuck, I had sympathy for his pain, but that was it.
