I give Daniel a lot of slack mostly because his trauma with Cobra Kai really did a number on him. Like in the first episode of the show when Johnny goes to Daniel’s dealership, Daniel is extremely friendly to Johnny (maybe a bit of a ahole but nothing truly mean) he even says “I know that wasn’t you, It was Cobra Kai. We’re all better off without it, am I right?” Daniel clearly puts all of his past problems and the reason so many bad things happened onto Cobra Kai and so when it re opened it’s almost like Daniel got transported back to some of the worst times of his life. He clearly thinks Cobra Kai’s way breeds bad people (and Cobra Kai under Kreese Daniel really isn’t wrong). So I sympathize a lot with Daniel being irrational at times.

It’s great Eric and Aaron now know Top Gun references.
Hawk did the same move Johnny did in the original karate kid movie, where he grabbed the leg and elbowed behind the knee
