I think Rick was referring to the actual Commodus who was murdered by his wrestling coach while taking a bath but other than that idk anyone who might have died in a gladiatorial style fight.
I absolutely love the wheat field imagery cause while it represents his wanting to go home, it also represents the after life which is constantly described as fields/meadows/plains. He just wanted to go home 🙁
Such an amazing movie, I’m with Calvin, no matter how many times I watch it, the end still gets me! Even got emotional during your alls reaction, just so good! Truly a masterpiece of cinema!
tried watching this twice (once with you and once with my aunt years ago) and i just cant. its soooooooooo boring. i dont get the interest. xena, hercules, comics, spartacus handles to era so well and makes it entertaining. the illiad this is NOT
