I think the Showrunners dismissed it but in my own head cannon on island Dave is The Man in Black trying to get Hurley to kill himself to remove another Candidate.
I never even considered that. Interesting theory but it was true, it would probably be a retcon. Kind of like the spider in Exposé.
I think Ron Lester, the man from Varsity Blues died in 2016 just thought you should know

To my knowledge there’s no prohibiting people with history of mental illness of becoming therapists and I’ve known therapists with DSM diagnoses (but under control through therapy/medication of their own). Obviously it’s important to work on your own ish before you can effectively help people with theirs. Just as addiction counselors are often former addicts, therapists/counselors often have a history of needing therapy/counseling, which is what drew them to it in the first place, wanting to help others in the way they were helped if that makes sense.
