The great thing about this fight… is that up until this point, Choji really WAS nothing more than a joke in this show. It feels almost like the writers plucked a character out of a hat and were like, “You know what? We’re gonna make this one AWESOME.”
And he’s still kind of overlooked, going forward. At least until waaaaay down the line in Shippuden, but he’s got one of my favorite little character stories of the whole group.
