Superman II is the superior movie. Partly because it’s a better movie with better story line (I think) but it was my dad’s favorite and his absolute joy in watching it and going around raising his arms saying he’s been working out still makes me smile.
What you have to remember about the effects for this movie is it came out only two years after Star Wars. These effects were still in their infancy. But in that period, in just a few years, so many films were going off what Lucasfilm was doing. Star Wars, Superman, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Star Trek the Motion Picture. An amazing time for “movie magic”.
I find that the less corny way to view the whole Superman reversing time scene is instead of viewing it as Superman causing time to reverse by reversing the spin of the Earth, what we are seeing is actually just Superman himself traveling back in time, overshooting a bit, and then moving forward in time to the point just before Lois died. The appearance of the Earth reversing is just our third person perspective, the same as if we saw the second hand on a clock reversing.
of course you dont recognize her: thats not her. it was just a cameo so they had no reason to hire a big actress so they didnt. annette o’toole didnt play lana until superman 3 aka when it was a bigger role………………..

I love how Reeves’ Superman just portrays the character in such a positive and jolly way. I wish they would get back to fun and charming Superman.
Wish the studio didn’t stick its nose into the film and kept the original ending instead of taking Superman II’s ending and tacking it onto this film
I thought the most problematic scene was Luthor’s henchwoman kissing an injured Superman. Straight up sexual harassment

Maybe it’s a reach.
