  1. They actually planned to show more of how the Briarwoods got to where they ended up but there was no easy way to fit it in with the amount of episodes they had planned. I believe the scene they wanted to slip in somewhere was that Delilah and Silas tried to retire happily and leave the Whispered One behind after Silas was healed/vampired, but it threatened to rescind the life he still holds if they don’t do what it wants. Hence them going so far to stay alive- “I broke the world for you!”

  2. First, spend 15 or 20 minutes discussing a one and a half minute opening several episodes ago, and if those one and a half minutes were necessary to a twelve episode season. Aaaaaaaannnddd….skip.

I really feel like the fact that it’s Critical Role, it’s popular, and a successful business caused some negative bias from a couple of these guys. Almost sounded like some gatekeeping going on.
Which is kinda disappointing. This show takes a niche subject and made it accessible to everyone. At the end of the series, at the end of the episode 11 and this episode, you have each character have their kick-ass moments. Each character takes center stage at some point. It’s amazing from a storywriting perspective to have seven main characters. And have each character just as fun and enjoyable as the next.

At the end, it seemed like they kept doubting the possibility of success of the show. It almost felt like some of them wanted it to fail, they wanted it to not resonate with the mainstream audience. “Well, I wonder how well such a niche subject could do with people who aren’t fans of Critical Role.” Answer is, really damn well. Because it’s well written, it’s well paced, it’s amazing world building, great visuals, and fantastic talent.

I knew Eric would have fun with it, because he just sits backs and enjoys the ride, no matter what the medium is. He understands it’s entertainment and just takes it as it is.

    1. idk man u skipped the discussion (by your own remark), so how do you know how they feel about it? They talked about it doing well and hoping it brought more people into the community. Also it was Arron who had that problem with the scene and he was laughing his ass off enjoying it the entire time. Feel how you want, but if your going to skip the discussion and then shit talk them for their discussion maybe like do it at home, on a piece of paper, where you can through it into. Their video was for entertainment and so I just feel it unnecessary to spread the hate (“He understands it’s entertainment and just takes it as it is” -as you said).

      1. Yeah, that skip remark was my bad. I wanted to communicate that they spent the majority of the discussion time on something that could’ve been skipped because it didn’t even happen this episode. I listened to it, and was annoyed at how useless that discussion was, hence the skip remark. In my opinion Blind Wave is the S Tier of reaction channels, but that discussion was literally the worst I have ever heard in any reaction channel about anything. Becuase it was about something that didn’t happen this episode, it wasn’t any kind of driving factor in the show(in the villain’s motivation and character building, yeah sure, but not necessary at all), had nothing to do with the overall story, and really was just filler. But they spent more time debating that then talking about the finale and the series as a whole. Like, looking at the trees for the forest. Again, my bad, I didn’t relay my thought process while posting, but I did listen to it all. I love Blind Wave(that’s why I can post now), pretty much loved their reaction to this series. But this discussion just……terrible on so many levels

      2. When these characters were created, it was for a home game. They had no reason to believe that these characters would be anything else than that. It you go back and watch the early streams, you will see Matt shift from home game mode to ‘we are putting on a show here’ mode. The rule books became more a side player. Emphasis was put on the roleplay. I think this upset a lot of old school DnD players but it opened the door for a lot of new players – and that also has been a thorn in the side for many old school players.

  3. It would have lived on in the gun but in the d&d play, Scanlan actually stole it and made the call to toss the gun in the acid. Everyone opposed it but Scanlan made the call individually, there was no indication of the demon going back into the gun prior. He made the choice and it worked out

  4. I don’t kmow what Aaron is talking about. The flashback provides characterisation, motivation and context for current events.
To think that you’d have surmised all of that without it is a bit arrogant, frankly.

  5. I actually couldn’t disagree with Aaron more, I think the backstory they give the Briarwoods is very good at getting me to relate to Delilah. She does horrible unredeemable actions but she does them purely out of love for Silas, I think their are very few people that wouldn’t do at least the very first steps Delilah did to bring back a loved one and once your down that path its very hard to turn back. I genuinely felt sorry for her by the end, I 100% wanted her to die but I still emphasized with her

  6. There actually is a lot more backstory for the Briarwoods, but it was told in talk shows or just after the fact, so I’m not sure how much it will come into play here. Suffice it to say, Delilah was not the nicest person to start out, being as she was kicked out of an assembly of wizards that are best known for being evil. If a man that tortures children is okay to stay but SHE’S not, she must be bad news!
