I know a lot of people recommended this one and I liked it …but I gotta say this doesn’t come CLOSE to being half as good as EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE. That is one of the very few movies that I could GUARANTEE you all would love and remember and think about for days (if not weeks) to come. Check it out.
It’s funny, the directors previous films are great but they don’t rely on you caring for the characters much or sympathising with them. But that’s the main issue I have with this film, for the revenge and journey to be satisfying I need to be able to connect with these characters and feel their drive.
I couldn’t disagree more. That’s what I love about this movie, it doesn’t romanticize or make a “hero” out of the main character. It’s my biggest issue with movies like Gladiator. Like Russell Crowes character in that movie is a murderous POS. Like we’re supposed to feel bad or sympathize for Crowes character because his family was killed? He’s a Roman General that literally has destroyed villages and towns, enslaving and murdering all those who don’t bend a knee. He’s responsible for countless family members being killed and slaughtered. Oh but his wife and kid was killed so I guess he’s a hero now. That’s the best part of Northman it’s just a harsh look at vengeance.
agree. didnt care about any of the characters just the lore and mythology. everything else was meh. give me my norse gods, witches and mythical beasts!
Agreed with Rick and Eric mostly. Some fantastic visuals and cool symbolism, but overall a very meh story. Some of the fighting choreography just did not do it for me either. Kind of a shame because I went into it thinking I’d love it.
This was a movie that I was very conflicted on. And I ended up deciding that I disliked it more than I liked it. So I was very interested in their opinions on the film.
