Fun fact: the sleeping sickness epidemic from the comic/TV series (Encephalitis lethargica) was a real thing that happened between 1917 and 1930 and affected about 1-5 million people. It is still not clear what caused it: it was initially believed that it was connected to the Spanish flu epidemic, but modern scientists think it was some other virus or bacteria strain. If you’ve ever seen the 1990 Robert de Niro and Robin Williams movie “Awakenings”, the coma patient in that movie was someone who suffered from encephalitis lethargica.
I agree that Clarisse could’ve done something even if was hard. When we first met her she was driving home by herself in her own car. She could’ve been sent an anonymous tip to the social worker about the abuse to both her and Jed. Even if that doesn’t save her immediately it gets Jed taken away at the very least.
I guess Unity is the sole survivor because it took a hundred years or so to pass. The others just died of old age during sleep, or in the lack of sleep, or something. I mean, those, who were lucky enough to receive good care that allowed them to remain living.
cant believe calvin cut off all that hair
